Testing Device for Physical Properties of Bio-Materials

Film Thickness

Basic Tests

The components used are the same as for the diametral tensile strength test.

    1. Calibrate a precision measuring gauge on the thickness of two round glass discs of 22mm diameter and set at zero.

    2. Place the test material between the glass discs. Sandwich these between two teflon discs. Position this assembly between the compress head and base and apply a vertical force of 15kg.

    3. If visible light curing is required, the light should be directed at the sides of the discs. Through transmission and diffusion, the light will cure the test material.

    4. Remove the glass discs and measure at least five separate positions. Calculate the mean of these measurements.
