Film Thickness
Basic Tests
The components used are the same as for the diametral tensile strength test.
-
Calibrate a precision measuring gauge on the thickness of two round glass discs of 22mm diameter and set at zero.
-
Place the test material between the glass discs. Sandwich these between two teflon discs. Position this assembly between the compress head and base and apply a vertical force of 15kg.
-
If visible light curing is required, the light should be directed at the sides of the discs. Through transmission and diffusion, the light will cure the test material.
-
Remove the glass discs and measure at least five separate positions. Calculate the mean of these measurements.
